Catalyst is a magazine released annually by Alberta University of the Arts (formerly known as the Alberta College of Art + Design). The piece celebrates the school’s success in art, craft and design and tells the stories of its students, faculty, and alumni.
Previously, a fragmented and busy aesthetic had overpowered the content of this publication, so we were tasked with creating a focused, understated layout and design that would allow the art and alumni being featured to take the spotlight. Honest, candid photography complemented this aesthetic nicely. We especially like the centre spread fold-out with insightful facts and figures about the school, and the oversized format.
