Each winter, Chinook Blast—Calgary’s immersive winter festival—warms up the city with a celebration of community, culture, and civic pride. GOOD Company created the Chinook Blast visual identity and continues to support the festival with campaign and event materials each year. We also created the website that we continue to update year after year.
In its third year, the festival had outgrown its basic informational website, which lacked functionalities and structure to be able to present a massive amount of event-related content: listings, interactive maps, photos, etc. Additionally, it didn’t readily convey the tone and feeling of the event, or, live up to its brand.
The most challenging aspect of this website was the filtering required for the various inputs, and ensuring events and attractions were also seen by the calendar and map functionalities across browsers and devices.
We infused the new website with the Chinook Blast brand, and set it up so that it can be updated in years to come via a streamlined spreadsheet upload functionality on the backend.
In its fourth year, we integrated an additional filter for accessibility options, a print button to allow visitors to export a pre sorted list of events, as well as a portal for participants to submit and manage their events.
