Kelly Brothers Productions

This website was a blast for us to work on for many reasons, but here are two. First, any company whose brand borrows from the powerful imagery of Russian propaganda posters is practically guaranteeing a certain degree of fun for the designers involved. Second, we got to take advantage of some of the more advanced technology available in WordPress website development today.

Kelly Brothers Productions focuses on the story telling behind their video productions – believing that the best ones come from a need to tell those stories, not to make money. We paired that with our take on cold-war era Soviet iconography, coming up with a look that feels both historic and contemporary, while including strong references to place; the Art Block in Inglewood where the company is located.

If you’re looking at the site on a desktop computer, you may notice that as you scroll down, the background changes at a different speed from the text and images sitting on top. This continuous-scrolling action also features biographies and photos that pop up in separate boxes, allowing the one-page site to have even more depth. Big typographic rotating banners scrolling in and out further add to the fun, confident feeling of the brand.
