This report offers insight into the state of spaces to create, and take in, arts and culture in Calgary. In designing it, we established two main priorities based on our client’s brief. The first was to convey the ideas of building and momentum. The second was to create a layout that allowed for the large amount of content to be easily discovered, and understood.
The basis of accomplishing both of these was to work with patterning. Structured or organic in nature—patterning that is both connected and expanding—represents the ideas of building, infrastructure, and gaining momentum. The patterning was overlaid on photography and used to distinguish between major sections.
