For Vivo—a charity and innovative recreation centre in Calgary’s north west, we created wayfinding and environmental graphics—both indoors and out.
Vivo’s previous wayfinding had fallen short due to the lack of an underlying visual system, poor readability and inconsistencies. Some areas of the facility were missing signs altogether, confusing clients as to where to go, or whether or not they had arrived at their destination.
After research, consultation and analysis, we created a strategy and system to help facility users get around. Our visual system included a set of icons for quick recognition, a strong visual connection to Vivo’s visual identity, and ensured accessibility to those with disabilities. When possible, we specified materials that would be durable, environmentally friendly, and connect with existing facility materials.
